A Shaker of Science: Once a WINS, Always a WINS
Thursday, March 25, 2021
5:30 PM-6:30 PM
Join us for this very special A Shaker of Science to meet Dominique and Betty and hear their experiences with the WINS program – from students to alumnae to mentors.
The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University was founded in 1812, but it wasn’t until 1982 that one of the institution’s most important contributions occurred – the founding of the Women In Natural Sciences, or WINS, program. In the subsequent 39 years, hundreds of young Philadelphia women have benefited and grown through their participation in this unique program. Two of those women have come full circle and now teach and mentor current WINS students. Dominique Thomas (WINS Coordinator) and Betty Louis (Engineering WINS Project Coordinator), both WINS alumni, are now inspiring and challenging the newest class of WINS girls.
