Fall Nature Challenge
October 10, 2025 through October 13, 2025
12:00 AM-12:00 AM
Join the Academy of Natural Sciences and local partners for a Fall Nature Challenge! From Friday, Oct. 10 through Monday, Oct. 13, we’ll be documenting the beautiful urban biodiversity of the fall season in Philadelphia and Camden.
From fungi to foxes, geese to goldenrods — autumn in our area is a bounty of biodiversity, and we want your help to capture it! You need only explore a neighborhood park, your favorite city street or even your backyard to find that nature is all around us, at every time of year.
Individuals of all ages are invited to get involved by making observations on iNaturalist!
Participation is free and takes place on the iNaturalist app and website. Any observation uploaded to iNaturalist from within the cities of Philadelphia or Camden over the four days of the challenge will be added to the Fall Nature Challenge project page on iNaturalist. There you can view all the submissions made during the challenge, and keep tabs on the leaderboard to see who is making the most observations and finding the most species. Your observations will add to our understanding of fall biodiversity in our cities!
