Welcome, educators!
The Academy is excited to offer lessons on water, climate, evolution, biodiversity and extinction for students in grades kindergarten through 12. We have included some of our most recent research with video segments in most lesson plans.
Teachers, these lessons can enhance your classroom curriculum with activities and videos that you can share with your students, and all lessons follow Pennsylvania Academic State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
Parents may also use these lessons to inspire activities with your kids. We encourage you to explore more possibilities on our Science From Home page.
Biodiversity

Food Web Biodiversity (Grades 3-6)
Students will be able to identify why food webs are important and the different roles plants and animals play in the food web and their environments.

Evolution

Biological Evolution (Grades 3-6)
Identify the 5 major components for evolution to occur, understand that mutations occur randomly and understand that natural selection can be environmentally dependent.

Water

Hydrology / Watersheds and Human Impact (Grades 3-6)
Discuss and observe parts of the hydrologic cycle by following the course of a river, understand what a watershed is and identify types of point source and non-point source pollution, and how to manage them in your local environment.

Sink or Float (Grades K-2)
Students will get their hands wet and discover what types of objects sink or float in water during a hands-on experiment.
