Back from the Field
Thursday, November 18
5:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Join us for our annual celebration of Academy scientists and our field work. After over a year of being virtual, meet our researchers and be the first to learn about their recent discoveries, tools of the trade and research sites.
We are also thrilled to be commemorating the opening of Invisible World of Water, an Academy curated exhibition in our new William B. Dietrich Gallery that explores two phenomena of water — snow crystals and diatoms — invisible to the naked eye, yet the inspiration for artists, scientists and amateur naturalists alike for centuries.
Some of the many things you’ll experience at this year’s Back from the Field:
- See specimens from research sites across the world.
- Examine the tools our scientists use to make discoveries.
- Hear fascinating stories from our scientists about getting to and from their field sites.
- Find out where our scientists are traveling next.
The safety of our guests, supporters and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We will be following COVID safety protocols and face-coverings are required for all attendees and staff.
Due to the interactive nature of this event, food and beverages will not be served at the event to ensure the comfort and safety of all participants.
