Dinosaurs and Cocktails Mix for Overnight for Adults

PHILADELPHIA, January 14, 2016

Dinosaurs and cocktails make for interesting dreams, especially when mixed together. Even better is the reality of the Overnight for Adults at Philadelphia’s “dinosaur museum” coming up Saturday, April 9.

Beers and Bigfoot, mimosas and Chupacabra, pjs and the Jersey Devil take center stage at this sleepover for ages 21 and older at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Check in and happy hour begin at 6:30 p.m. April 9, and the fun goes until 9 a.m. the next morning, with snoring under the towering T. rex in Dinosaur Hall in between.

“We’ve planned the activities and experiences for our big night at the museum especially for people who want to experience the Academy after hours and in a social way,” said Timshel Purdum, the Academy’s director of education and lifelong learning. “And we can’t wait to tip our glasses to all our science geek friends wearing pajamas!”

At the Overnight for Adults, participants will enjoy:

  • Happy hour with two free drinks and the opportunity to purchase more
  • Museum-wide monster hunt
  • Cryptid footprint making
  • Behind-the-scenes tours
  • Animal Illusions magic show
  • Encounters with the Academy’s weirdest live animals
  • Midnight movie
  • All-new activities led by our education staff
  • Conversations with Academy scientists
  • Dinner by 12th Street Catering
  • Breakfast and a mimosa prepared by 12th Street Catering

Leave the kids at home, but don’t forget the pjs and sleeping bags. The Overnight for Adults is $165 for Academy members and $190 for nonmembers. For more information and to register, visit http://www.ansp.org/get-involved/programs/adult-programs/adult-overnight/ or call 215-299-1060.
