Discover the animal inspiration for superheroes and villains in comic books and movies during the Animal Superhero Weekends at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, April 6 and 7 and April 13 and 14.

From Spider-Man to Catwoman, animals influence some of our favorite fictional action characters. At these back-to-back Animal Superhero Weekends, visitors can find out how.  Between live animal encounters, hands-on activities, and training camp, both weekends are bound to be super.

Here are some highlights for both weekends. Activities are free with regular museum admission.  See ansp.org for more details.

• Live animal shows at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Explore the super strength, sight and smarts of some animals and how they might not be the bad guys after all.
• Superhero Training Camp at 1 p.m. Join the Academy’s superhero animals as they hone their strength and agility while foraging, climbing and problem-solving.
• Super Strength Station all day. Test your strength, sight and speed against the abilities of nature’s own superheroes.
• Design a Superhero cape and mask to take home.
