Academy Town Square: Science Writer Ed Yong in conversation with Maiken Scott

Wednesday, October 12, 2022

6:30 PM-8:00 PM

The world is full of sounds, smells, sights and textures - but each creature experiences these riches in very different ways.

Science journalist Ed Yong's latest book, "An Immense World," offers fascinating insights into the "sensory bubbles" of animals all around us. Elephants that scan for clues with their trunks, snakes that smell with their tongues, butterflies with ears on their wings or beetles that can sense fire... Yong invites us to see what is around us with new eyes.

He'll talk about his new book with Maiken Scott, host of WHYY's health and science show The Pulse. They will also discuss Ed's important coverage of the Coronavirus pandemic, which was followed by thousands of readers around the globe.
