Garbage Gala May 16th, 2025

Drexel University's Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is thrilled to partner once again with the Academy of Natural Sciences for an evening of creativity and sustainability. Witness the museum come to life as a stunning runway where students debut unique garments made from recycled and repurposed materials. These designs give new life to forgotten and discarded items, which will be showcased against the striking backdrop of the Academy’s dinosaurs and wildlife dioramas.

The Garbage Gala is project-based competition for students in Westphal’s Design Foundation course. Given just one month to explore found materials, develop concepts and craft their final garments, students showcase the exceptional creativity and dedication that define Westphal’s vibrant community of makers.

This year’s gala boasts first-year students in fashion design, as well as students from other design disciplines in Westphal.
