Fisheries Section Lead, Principal Investigator

Dave has over 20 years of experience in fisheries science and has been with the Academy since 2004. He is responsible for overseeing projects, staff, and field and laboratory research.

His research has focused on restoration and conservation of migratory fishes, species of greatest conservation need (SGCN), impacts and management of invasive species, and using fish as bioindicators to understand human impacts such as land use change and dams.

Dave is also interested in combining traditional and novel techniques (e.g., eDNA, AI) to solve problems dealing with fish.

Kendall Morgan

Fisheries Biologist

Kendall has been with the Academy since 2025 and is responsible for assisting with Fisheries Section projects and managing the laboratory.

She has worked with fish from the Northeast, Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic regions of North America. She has extensive experience identifying and assessing fish species, including invasive species, migratory fishes and endangered species.

She has experience assessing freshwater fish assemblages in lakes, rivers, and streams using various techniques.

Neil Sheridan

Fisheries Biologist

Neil has been with the Academy since 2025 and is responsible for assisting with Fisheries Section projects, reports, and supporting field and lab work.

He has worked with marine, estuarine and freshwater fishes in the mid-Atlantic region of North America. He has extensive experience with fish species inventories, invasive species and migratory fishes.

He has also surveyed and worked on species of greatest conservation need.
