This month, meet biology graduate student Katie Fiocca, who studies social insects from the cloud forest in Costa Rica. Fiocca has traveled to Central America to study the nutrition and communication of social insects and has worked with ants, wasps and even birds who make their home in the tropics. See photos of Costa Rican flora and fauna, and learn what it is like to work in the field. Bonus: Take home a coloring page of your new favorite animal!
