This German-American botanist spent most of his active life in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where he was the pastor of the Lutheran church. Botany was his avocation and during his life he prepared large herbaria and wrote many manuscript texts which were never published. This collection consists of writings, correspondence, typescript of letters to Stephen Elliott and various biographical papers and material about his collection deposited in the Academy by the American Philosophical Society.
