Local Conference of Youth: Meet the Students and Partners!

Saturday, September 24, 2022

1:30 PM-3:00 PM

The Local Conference of Youth (September 23–25, 2022) is a nation-wide climate conference led by young people from the United States and endorsed by the Children and Youth Constituency to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (YOUNGO).

The LCOYs precede the Global Conference of Youth and Conference of the Parties (COP) and work as a space for capacity building, inclusion, networking, education and, most importantly, the drafting of the National Youth Statement, the official position of the youth that will be handed to global leaders at the COP.

The United States has never had a YOUNGO Conference in the past, despite being one of the main decision-makers in the world. Given the position of the United States globally, the collective input of youth in America needs to be shared on a global stage and to local eyes.

This year's conference will set a new precedent for youth engagement and community in the youth climate change movement.

The event will involve a thorough agenda encompassing different topics crucial to the climate crisis such as climate justice, health, food systems, ACE and more. Plus, the public has a chance to meet the LCOY delegates and partners on Saturday, September 24, as they share their work in our diorama halls from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
