National Fossil Day

Wednesday, October 16, 2019

10:00 AM-4:30 PM

Philly’s got fossils, right here at the Academy! From the towering T. rex to the most miniscule mollusk, thousands of vertebrate, invertebrate and plant fossils are part of the 18 million specimens the Academy has in its collection and on display.

Celebrate National Fossil Day at the Academy and find out why we dig dinosaurs (and bugs and plants and rocks and shells). Talk to a scientist, practice paleontology in The Big Dig, and check out our Fossil Prep Lab to see real dinosaur bones being excavated and prepared. Explore Pangea in the special exhibit Dinosaurs Around the World and come face to face with wild dinos. Check out special live shows at 11, 11:45 and 2:30. Don’t miss your chance to make (pre-)history!

Auditorium Show: Birds to Dinos: 11 and 11:45 a.m.
Fossil Prep Lab Show: 2:30 p.m.
