Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival Partners With the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

Presenting an international slate of environmental shorts and features, the Festival will showcase inspiring and engaging films from around the world — April 25, 2020, at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

PHILADELPHIA, July 15, 2019

The Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival is thrilled to announce that the fourth annual Festival will take place the first weekend of April 2020 (April 2–5) at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Center City, Philadelphia.

Through this strategic partnership, the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival and the Academy of Natural Sciences will have an expanded platform to showcase exceptional new films about urgent environmental issues, explore the beauty of the planet, and highlight state-of-the-art research on topics such as climate change, biodiversity loss, habitat change and sea level rise.

“We are thrilled to partner with this highly respected institution right in the heart of our beautiful city for the 2020 Festival,” said Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival Executive Director Debra Wolf Goldstein. “The Festival’s and the Academy’s missions are so aligned that it was a natural fit for us to join forces and become an eco-entertainment powerhouse for Earth Month and beyond.”

“We believe that the Academy’s history of pioneering groundbreaking environmental research aligns perfectly with the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival’s vision for environmental awareness,” said the Academy’s CEO and President Scott Cooper, PhD. “The Academy’s own scientists will serve as experts during Festival panel discussions and help moderate audience Q&As after the films.”

The Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival has also curated a series of  interesting and inspiring new short films for several outdoor film programs this summer, including The Oval’s Food & Flicks Fridays, hosted by the Department of Parks & Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy, as well as at Screenings Under the Stars at Penn’s Landing, put on by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation. The Festival also will be providing environmental education-based summer programming at Cherry Street Pier and the Food Trust’s Night Markets.
