<p>Entomological illustrator and nature study teacher, Mrs. Comstock worked with her husband through her life. This engraving on wood, of six months, <emph render="italic">Alsophila pometaria, Cingilia caternaria, Dyspteris abortivaria, Lagoa crispata, Nepytia semiclusaria </emph>and <emph render="italic">Portheria dispar, </emph>while here shown as figures on a single plate, were published as individual text figures. Originally, they appeared in, &#8220;A manual for the Study of Insects&#8221; by John Henry Comstock and Anna Botsford Comstock, in 1895.</p>

<p>Presented by Prof. and Mrs. E. L. Palmer, of Cornell University, in 1959, as recognition of the observance of the American Entomological Society's 100th Anniversary. The publisher's remainders, and papers concerned with natural history, of the Comstock Publishing Company of Ithaca, New York, were purchased by the Palmers after the death of Mrs. Comstock and preserved by them.</p>
