<p>While employed by the Canadian government, Viereck was engaged in a monographic work on the genus of bees, <emph render="italic">Andrena, </emph>and in 1923 employed A. J. Engel Terzi to draft illustrations of various species found in the British Museum (Nat. Hist.). About the same time, John R. Malloch of the U. S. National Museum staff in Washington, D. C. prepared a large number of similar drawings for the same work. In 1924 Viereck published his <emph render="italic">Prodromus </emph>of this work in the <emph render="italic">Canadian Entomologist, </emph>stating that many years would elapse before its publication would ensue. The monograph was never published.</p>
<p>Of the 52 plates, only two seem to have been done by Terzi, namely, the two identified by alphabetical designations to the figures, the others assigned to Malloch by Viereck's note on the package &#8220;Andrena. Drawings made by J. R. Malloch and Terzi for H. L. Viereck.&#8221; Plate legends are in Viereck's hand.</p>
