Robert Bridges, president of the Academy in 1864 and 1865, was a botanist. He was chairman of the Botanical Committee for 21 years and worked extensively with the Academy's plant collections, for which he prepared indexes. This collection contains three reports which he prepared indexes. This collection contains three reports of committees on papers submitted for publication. One of 24 pages, a paper dealing with meteors, by Jacob Ennis, defends the committee's decision not to publish. The other two, by P. A. Browne, describing a plant monstrocity, and discussing animal torpidity, were likewise turned down.
