Physician with an avocation in ornithology. Became interested in various organizations, acting as an officer of the National Association of Audubon Societies, of the Nuttall Ornithological Club and eventually president of the American Ornithologists' Union.

Included in the collection are various open letters, questionaires and lists of observed birds. Letters are all addressed to Witmer Stone and written from New York City, Mt. Arlington, N. J. and Tadousac, Quebec. They treat of general ornithology, bird distribution and habitats during the early years, later dealing with business of the American Ornithologists' Union of which he was president from 1923-26.
