Biologist, geologist, geographer and ornithologist. Active at Swarthmore College, Wagner Free Institute and Librarian of the Academy of Natural Sciences. The letters, all addressed to Witmer Stone concern birds, and some business of the three organizations mentioned above, and of the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club. A series were penned while travelling in Europe and refer to ornithologists and museums of that area. A smaller group were written from Nova Scotia and are full of observations of its wildlife.
