<p>A letterbook in which 22 letters are handwritten by the Secretary of the Board of Auditors. R. Eglesfeld Griffith wrote 13 letters in 1824, S. G. Morton (2) 1826, J. V. Merrick (5) 1826 and Charles Hedelius (2) 1829. The minutebook covers the period from April 2, 1823 to July 2, 1830 and is written by Griffith, Morton, Carpenter, Merrick and Hedelius. The receipt book, 1826-1853 has 108 signed receipts for money paid by the Academy; this book includes the payments made to John Notman, architect and builder of the 1839 Hall of the Academy. Auditors' reports are loose, and for each year consist of quite a variety of records of special funds or committees. The years 1822 to 1829, 1834, 1837, 1877, 1881-82 are all represented. In the early days the auditors' committee of three was a very important part of the Academy administration. It kept the list of members with addresses, dues paid or in arrears, as well as recommendations for the betterment of the Academy's financial affairs in every situation. The accounts for the publication of the <emph render="italic">Journal, </emph>the responsibility of accepting the edition from the printer and presenting it at the Academy meeting, the mailing of the Journals and in fact the complete handling of matters in this connection, except the approval of papers to be printed in the Journal.</p>
