The outstanding item in this collection is a talk given before the Naturalist Forum, in 1944. It consists of 52 pages, with 24 of them in Fowler's hand, written on varied sizes of paper, pasted on uniform sheets for preservation. Accompanying papers include a 36-page “Generic Index to the Collection of Fish in the Academy of Natural Sciences,” which is tentatively identified as written by John A. Ryder, in 1870; Fowler's record of “Reptiles, Amphibians, Fishes” 1929; two papers about C. Few Seiss' collection of reptiles, batrachians, 1915; and a filing system for the classification of fishes, transcribed by Robert Harry Rofen, from that used in the U. S. National Museum, 1951.
