In its infancy, a very strict account was kept of the property of the Academy. A ledger lists loans of documents and books from 1823 to 1825, while in 1824 began the policy of demanding promisory notes to be signed by borrowers, the custom continuing through 1849. Another ledger of more general coverage, including books, specimens and equipment, supplies the records of loans from 1831 to 1848. The register of library loans from 1833-57 in one volume and the exchange book of loans in another completes the file.
