Earlier education activities were the responsibility of the committee on Lectures and Instruction, later of the Professors and Lecturers, and recently of the Department of Education. The business of the first committee was recorded as minutes by the various secretaries: William L. Mactier, 1881-87; Charles Morris, 1888-95; Benjamin Sharp, 1896; Samuel N. Rhoads, 1897; and Philip P. Calvert, 1898-1905. Many printed programs are tipped in. Generous information about the Ludwig Institute and its educational aims is added. Statements of the Educational Development Fund, 1936-41 and information about the course in Fundamentals of Systematics, 1949. Letters, accounts and other papers round out the collection.
