According to the bylaws of the Academy whereby sections were authorized, all specimens, books, etc., accumulated by the section, were the property of the Academy, but it seemed convenient to retain the distinction of a sectional herbarium for the purposes of this guide. Accession books, 1874-79, 1887-96; donations, 1876-87; sources of plants, 1905-20, and correspondence regarding the plants obtained by the Botanical section make up the papers.
