<scopecontent>
<p>This druggist and amateur botanist became interested in the flora of New Jersey while in business in Tuckerton. Having moved to Philadelphia and been elected an Academy member, in 1891, he became associated with J. Bernard Brinton in botanical outings. Through Brinton, he became interested in the Botanical section and with him was a founder of the Philadelphia Botanical Club. As chairman of the Botanical Committee of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Association he upheld the plan to make a checklist of Pennsylvania plants. Two writings, &#8220;Welsh Mountain (Chester County area) Flora&#8221; and &#8220;Panama Plants&#8221; are included.</p>
