<scopecontent>
<p>Consists of material relating mostly to two parcels of real estate owned by the Academy; the land on which the building at 19th and Race streets stands, and a tract of 1,723 acres in West Virginia which came to the Academy from William Maclure's estate. Also some items relating to the 2nd street property and the Broad and Sansom streets building. The collection contains correspondence (mostly by attorneys and realtors and not indexed) deeds, reports, maps, bills and miscellaneous legal documents. The West Virginia material contains a 43-page resum&#233; by Nolan, of all transactions and correspondence from the acquisition of the land in 1844 to its sale for $6,000.00 in 1875, a part having been sold earlier for delinquent taxes.</p>
