Photograph of a modern interpretation of the steamboat, as described in newspapers and narratives at the time of the expedition. Titian R. Peale accompanied the party and designed a flag which was reproduced in an old account. That ensign was incorporated in the present sketch. Various peculiarities of the steamboat were introduced, but the portrayal differs greatly from the one published in Carl D. Lane's American Paddle Steamboats, N. Y., 1943, p. 57. Also six letters with information about the sketch.
