Register for the Academy’s Summer Farm Share

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University is pleased to host the Delaware Valley Farm Share community-supported agriculture program for a fourth season. Sustainability, the balancing of present needs of both natural and human systems and ensuring that those systems remain balanced and healthy in the future, is an important part of the Academy’s mission. By choosing to consume locally grown foods, Academy staff and supporters can work together to encourage sustainability in the Philadelphia region.

By picking up your farm share at the Academy, conveniently located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Center City Philadelphia, you can provide an abundance of healthy foods for you and your family. Farm shares may help minimize lengthy grocery shopping trips, and they also can encourage creativity in the kitchen. You will feel better knowing that you are supporting local family farms that employ earth friendly methods. And trust us—the food is delicious!

A produce share offers a variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, pantry staples, breads, and a dozen eggs every other Tuesday. This winter, you may see fresh cranberries, greens, beans, onions, apples, honey, dinner rolls, and more. Dairy shares made up of yogurt and cheese or butter are available at an additional cost. Registered participants receive a list of what items to expect two days in advance of the pickup date.

For more information, please visit the Delaware Valley Farm Share website. Registering is easy! Sign up online, and select the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University as your pickup site. The deadline for the summer share signup is May 1.
