Hop on over to our pad for a whole month of ribbiting weekend programming! February becomes “Froguary” at the Academy as we celebrate our new exhibit, Frogs: A Chorus of Colors, featuring dozens of beautiful live frogs in gorgeous habitats.
Learn all about awesome amphibians at interactive education stations, see real specimens, join us for special story times with Marty the Moose and a cast of colorful characters, and take home your own fun froggy craft. Check out live frogs of many hues, search for hidden frogs, create a nighttime frog chorus, and conduct a virtual frog dissection in the special exhibit. Weekend activities are free with admission, but an extra ticket is required for the Frogs exhibit. See you in Froguary!

Auditorium Show: Animals of the Academy

Learn all about the creatures that call the Academy home and their similarities and differences. Meet some furry, feathery, and scaly Academy ambassadors!
Awesome Amphibians: Selections From the Collections
Did you know that the Academy has over 18 million specimens in its collection? Check out a few of our amphibian favorites, and learn about the groundbreaking work our scientists are doing all over the world.
Fabulous Frogs Microscope Cart
Learn everything you ever wanted to know about frogs and toads at this interactive cart featuring cutting-edge technology. Explore frog and toad biological slides, tadpole development games, a fun trivia spinner, and even a model frog dissection.
How high can you hop? How far can you jump? How do you measure up to frogs and toads, inch for inch? Test your abilities against the world’s champion hoppers. Hopscotch just got a whole lot froggier!
Frog Keeper Talk
Got some questions about frogs? Just want to learn more about how cool they are? Join areal zookeeper for a short presentation featuring the fabulous frogs of the exhibit. This special presentation is included with admission to Frogs: A Chorus of Colors.
Fun Froggy Crafts
Make your own jumping frog pond game, complete with a toy frog to play with, and see what crazy color combinations you can create with a tie-dye froggy friend to take home.
Live Reptile Exploration Station
How are reptiles and amphibians different? Find out as you meet the Academy’s own snakes, turtles, and lizards. Use cutting-edge technology to explore their miniature world at this interactive cart featuring our live animal ambassadors.
Froggy Story Time With Marty the Moose
Marty the Moose loves nothing more than entertaining the crowds with his terrible jokes and goofy sense of humor. Join Marty and his favorite humans for a special frog edition of story time.
Frogs: A Chorus of Colors

From radiant blue to fiery red, living frogs around the world offer a glimpse of the vast palette of frog diversity. Frogs are found on nearly every environment on Earth, and they have strange, shocking, and interesting survival strategies. Check out live frogs of many hues, listen to their colorful chorus, and admire the many ways they swim, hop, glide, and soar. Hop into a frog’s world as you inspect frog habitats complete with rock ledges, live plants, and waterfalls. See live frogs in action, search for hidden frogs, create a nighttime frog chorus, spin a zoetrope to see how a frog jumps, and conduct a virtual frog dissection.
